Job Description
Working Hours: 38 hours per week
Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 + Superannuation
Annual Leave: 4 weeks per year

Role Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
Prepare ingredients and ensure food is cooked and presented consistently during service.
Assist with planning and developing menus, daily specials and seasonal dishes.
Monitor the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation and presentation.
Estimate food requirements and assist with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies.
Ensure appropriate portion control and minimise food wastage.
Monitor stock levels and ensure ingredients are stored, labelled and rotated correctly.
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
Ensure compliance with relevant workplace health, safety and food handling requirements.
Prepare and adapt dishes to accommodate customers’ dietary requirements and preferences.
Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Assist in training and providing guidance to junior kitchen staff where required.
Maintain kitchen equipment and work areas in a clean and organised condition.
Contribute ideas to improve kitchen efficiency, menu quality and overall food service operations.

Qualifications & Skills

Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery, or a related qualification.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Cook or Chef in a café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
Ability to work efficiently in a busy and fast-paced kitchen environment.
Strong communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
Ability to maintain consistency and attention to detail during busy service periods.
Passion for preparing fresh, high-quality food and delivering an excellent customer experience.
Reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.
