About the Role
The successful applicant will assist in the preparation and cooking of authentic Indian cuisine while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a range of authentic Indian dishes in accordance with recipes and menu specifications.
- Assist with menu planning and the preparation of daily specials.
- Prepare ingredients, sauces, marinades and accompaniments.
- Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assist with stock rotation, inventory control and ordering of food supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and food preparation areas.
- Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service.
Essential Requirements
- AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification; or
- At least three (3) years of relevant full-time work experience where no formal qualification is held.
- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
- Experience preparing authentic Indian cuisine will be highly regarded.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, kitchen operations and quality standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability to work a rotating roster, including weekends, evenings and public holidays.
