Palliative Medicine Specialist or Senior Medical Officer to join
Central Queensland Health in Rockhampton.
Central Queensland Palliative Care is undergoing a major
restructure, revitalisation and service expansion, creating an exciting opportunity for a senior clinician to join at a pivotal stage of development and help shape the future of specialist palliative care across the region.
The vision is to develop a
modern, connected and patient-centred regional palliative care service, improving consistency, collaboration and access to specialist support for patients and their families across Central Queensland.

About the Role The successful clinician will provide specialist palliative care across both
hospital and community settings, working within an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting 150+ patients and their families across the Rockhampton region through community-based specialist palliative care
- Providing specialist consultation across Rockhampton Hospital
- Working alongside an experienced Nurse Practitioner supporting both hospital and community services
- Providing dedicated inpatient palliative care for symptom management and end-of-life care
- Working collaboratively with oncology, medical, nursing and allied health teams
- Supporting patients and families with complex symptom management and advance care planning
- Contributing to multidisciplinary case review and clinical decision-making
- Developing stronger links between hospital and community palliative care
Building a Regional Palliative Care Service This position provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a
unified regional palliative care model across Central Queensland.
You will work towards stronger partnerships with:
- Fitzroy Community Hospice
- Gladstone Hospital
- Emerald Hospital
- Capricorn Coast Hospital
- Rockhampton Hospital and community services
The aim is to create a more
connected, consistent and accessible specialist palliative care service across the Central Queensland Health network.

About YouStaff Specialist – Palliative Medicine Applicants must have:
- Registration or eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA
- Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine, RACP (FAChPM), or equivalent
- Applicants with extensive experience in Palliative Medicine may also be considered
- MBBS or equivalent qualification eligible for registration in Australia
- Commitment to ongoing CME and professional development
Senior Medical Officer Applicants must have:
- Registration or eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA
- FRACGP or FACRRM
- Extensive clinical experience in Palliative Medicine
- MBBS or equivalent qualification eligible for registration in Australia
- Commitment to ongoing CME and professional development
Internationally trained doctors with appropriate specialist qualifications and significant palliative medicine experience are encouraged to enquire regarding eligibility for Australian registration.
RemunerationTotal remuneration package of up to
$562,473 per annum Depending on classification and experience, salary arrangements include:
- $265,550 – $281,545 p.a. – L25–L27
- $222,059 – $257,932 p.a. – L18–L24
- $192,257 – $265,550 p.a. – L13–L25
- $192,257 – $198,273 p.a. – L13–L14
- 12.75% employer superannuation
- 17.5% leave loading
Additional remuneration may be available through overtime, on-call and other applicable allowances.
