Hydraulic & Diesel Mechanic
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Hydraulic & Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of diesel-powered machinery, hydraulic systems, vehicles and industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance of diesel machinery and equipment.
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, cooling systems and fuel systems.
Diagnose, repair and maintain hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, cylinders, valves and hoses.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
Perform breakdown repairs and respond to urgent maintenance requirements.
Inspect machinery and identify potential mechanical or hydraulic issues.
Replace worn or damaged components and carry out repairs to manufacturer specifications.
Conduct testing after repairs to ensure machinery is operating safely and efficiently.
Maintain accurate service and repair records.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and organised workshop.
Work independently as well as part of a team.
Provide support with machinery installation, commissioning and modifications when required.
Skills & Experience
Relevant qualification as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Mobile Plant Mechanic or similar.
Demonstrated experience with hydraulic systems and diesel-powered machinery.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Ability to read hydraulic and mechanical drawings.
Experience working with heavy machinery, industrial equipment or manufacturing equipment.
Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
Ability to work under pressure and respond to breakdowns efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Current driver's licence.
Desirable
Experience with manufacturing or industrial machinery.
Hydraulic hose and fittings experience.
Welding and fabrication skills.
Electrical fault-finding experience.
Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
