I am currently working with a well known government organisation in Geelong that is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on an initial 6‑month contract. Your new role
As the Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll services across the organisation. Your duties will include:
End‑to‑end payroll processing using the SAGE or ELMO payroll system
Interpreting awards, EBAs and relevant legislation
Responding to payroll queries and providing clear, timely resolutions
Processing onboarding, offboarding, leave, deductions and employee variations
Ensuring compliance with payroll policies, taxation and superannuation obligations
Supporting reporting, audits and month‑end requirements
What you'll need to succeed
Demonstrated experience in payroll, processing 200-300 timesheets fortnightly
Proven experience using the ELMO - highly advantageous
Strong understanding of award and EBA interpretation including allowances
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment
