We are going into Dry Season and the weather is really enjoyable. We have pool on site that staff are welcome to use when not working. • IT IS REMOTE there is Greyhound bus to Broome however, the town is small and quiet. • WE ARE NOT ON THE COAST. Derby has high tides of up to 13 metres. There is no beach or sea in the town. There is sea 2,5km from town however, the water is rather muddy and not suitable for swimming. Work Challenges • Housekeeping – it is hot. Please be aware and take this into consideration when applying for jobs. Whilst not unusual for Australia, it is different from housekeeping in your home environment. • RSA – must be adhered to. If you do not feel comfortable cutting people off, please do not apply. Serving alcohol in Australia is different to your home country, especially in remote regions. We are providing you with this information so you can make a fully informed decision. As mentioned previously, these are the challenges you will be facing in majority of regions qualifying for regional work. Please, don’t be scared, it is not all just hard. Derby is a friendly little town, and we try to make sure our staff is happy and well looked after. **We provide discounted accommodation (single donga style rooms with shared bathroom block) as well as meals 7 days a week.
