Contract Administrator | Commercial Construction | Rockhampton
Location: Rockhampton, Queensland
Work type: Full time, permanent
Sector: Commercial construction
- Join a respected commercial builder with a strong Queensland presence
- Work closely with project and site teams across live construction projects
- Rockhampton based role with long-term career development
About the role
Manpower is partnering with an established commercial builder to appoint a Contract Administrator for its Rockhampton based team.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for someone who enjoys the commercial, contractual and project delivery side of construction.
You will work closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants to support project administration, contracts, procurement, claims, variations and cost tracking.
This role will suit someone who is organised, practical and detail-focused, but also enjoys being part of a project team rather than sitting purely in administration.
Why this role is worth considering
This is a strong opportunity to join a well-regarded builder with a down-to-earth culture, supportive team environment and genuine project exposure.
You will be close to the action across commercial construction projects and will have the opportunity to keep developing your contract administration capability over time.
The environment will suit someone who values:
- A collaborative project team
- Exposure to commercial construction projects
- Practical, down-to-earth leadership
- Strong relationships with site teams and subcontractors
- Clear expectations and support
- Long-term career growth
What you will be doing
You will support the project team with:
- Preparing subcontracts and related documentation
- Processing invoices and supporting payment workflows
- Managing document control and project records
- Working closely with project managers and site personnel
- Supporting site visits when required
- Assisting with defect management and close-out
- Preparing monthly reports
- Supporting cost forecasts and cash flow reporting
- Managing variations, EOTs and procurement registers
- Liaising with clients on progress claims
- Building strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and consultants
What you will bring
You do not need to tick every box, but this role may suit someone with:
- Experience as a Contract Administrator or Assistant Contract Administrator
- Experience in commercial construction or a similar building environment
- Exposure to subcontracts, procurement, progress claims, variations and EOTs
- Strong attention to detail and organisation
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Confidence working with project teams, site personnel and subcontractors
- Ability to work well in a team while managing your own tasks
Relevant qualifications in construction management, quantity surveying, project management or a related field would be viewed favourably, but practical construction experience is just as important.
The person who will do well here
You will suit this role if you are:
- Organised and reliable
- Practical and calm under pressure
- Detail-focused without getting stuck in the detail
- Professional with clients, subcontractors and internal teams
- Comfortable working to project deadlines
- Team-focused, with initiative when working independently
- Interested in building a long-term construction career
Backgrounds that may suit
This role may suit someone from:
- Commercial construction
- Principal contractor environments
- Tier one, tier two or regional builders
- Government or public-sector construction projects
- Education, health, retail, industrial or institutional projects
- Assistant Contract Administrator roles
- Project coordination roles with contract administration exposure
- Quantity surveying or construction management backgrounds
This role may be less suited to someone whose experience is purely general administration without exposure to construction contracts, procurement, claims, variations or project cost tracking.
