Staff Specialist – Intensive Care Medicine

An outstanding opportunity is available for a Staff Specialist in Intensive Care Medicine to join the Intensive Care Unit at Rockhampton Hospital, a major regional referral centre serving Central Queensland.
The ICU provides specialist care to patients across a large regional catchment including Gladstone, Emerald, Biloela and Longreach.
About the Service
The Intensive Care Unit delivers care for a diverse mix of adult and paediatric patients, managing approximately:
* **450–650 ICU presentations annually**
* **60–100 paediatric admissions per year**
As a regional referral ICU, the unit manages complex cases while working closely with tertiary centres across Queensland.
In this position you will:
* Provide **high-quality clinical intensive care services**
* Deliver **expert assessment, admission, ongoing management, transfer and discharge of critically ill patients**
* Contribute to **teaching and supervision of junior doctors, students, nursing and allied health staff**
* Participate in **patient safety initiatives, audit, research and service planning**
* Support the **Director of ICU in the operational management of the unit**
* Provide leadership in **clinical governance, service improvement and evidence-based care**

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
* **MBBS or equivalent** eligible for registration with the **Medical Board of Australia**
* **Specialist registration or eligibility for registration with AHPRA**
* **Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (FCICM)**
* Ongoing participation in **Continuing Medical Education (CME)**
* Strong clinical leadership and the ability to work effectively in a **regional and sometimes resource-limited environment**
