We're a neighbourhood cafe in Heidelberg Heights serving specialty coffee, house-baked sweets and treats, toasties that get talked about, and a brunch that's earned its regulars. The space hums from open, settles into a rhythm through the morning, hussles through lunch, and we lock the door at 2pm.
Hospitality, for us, is about noticing. The regular who's had a rough morning. The table that needs clearing before anyone asks. The small things, done well. Every time.
After running it ourselves for a while, it's time to hand the day-to-day to someone who'll love the place as much as we do. You'll steer the floor, lead the crew, and make sure every cup that goes out the door is one we're proud of.
If you've spent enough time in hospitality to know what good looks like – and you're ready to put your stamp on a small independent cafe – we'd love a chat.
You run the show:
We're looking for someone as comfortable on bar through the morning rush, as they are rostering on a Tuesday afternoon – with an eye for detail, a real love for people, excellent communication and customer focused.
This is hands-on. You're not behind a laptop. You're on the floor, on the bar, on it – you'll handle setup, closing and the required admin as needed.
You will lead an FOH crew, work hand-in-hand with our Head Chef, and report directly to ownership. Full-time and salaried across a 5-day week.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading a tight FOH crew with warmth, wit and high standards
- Opening up, closing down, and keeping the space humming in between
- Building rosters that work for the cafe and the people on them
- Ordering stock and keeping suppliers on side
- Owning the guest experience, from the first "good morning" to the last "see you tomorrow"
- Keeping coffee and drinks consistently sharp
- Hiring, onboarding and training people who fit the room
- Build culture with kindness and respect
- Watching the numbers (costs, margins, the lot)
About you:
- You've held a manager seat in a busy cafe or venue
- You've run a 7 am rush and still made eye contact
- You obsess over the customer
- You're passionate about quality food and drink
- You lead teams with clarity and confidence, respect and kindness
- You notice gaps and steer operations quickly and effectively
