The Opportunity
An exceptional leadership opportunity is available for a Clinical Director of Anaesthetics .
This role offers the chance to combine hands-on clinical practice with strategic leadership, shaping anaesthetic and perioperative services within a progressive regional health service.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality care while driving service development, clinical governance, and team leadership.
The Role
As Clinical Director, you will provide both clinical excellence and departmental leadership, including:
* Delivering specialist anaesthetic and perioperative services
* Leading and supporting anaesthetic services across theatre and procedural areas
* Providing **consultancy to HDU**, including procedures such as central venous and arterial line placement
* Supporting best-practice **acute and perioperative pain management**
* Participating in an **on-call roster** and responding to clinical emergencies
* Leading **clinical governance, quality improvement, and safety initiatives**
* Supervising, mentoring, and training **Doctors-in-Training (DiTs)**
* Driving service planning and continuous improvement within the department
* Workforce of ~1,200 staff
* Broad service offering including emergency, medical, surgical, maternity, paediatrics, HDU, and specialist services
* Strong focus on **patient-centred care, safety, and continuous improvement**

* Fellowship of the **Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA)** or equivalent
