Due to the business growth and expansion plans, USVD is now looking to recruit Fitter(s) in their Operations team on a permanent full-time basis.

AUD $80,000 - $85,000 base + Super (for a 38-hour work week).

Role purpose
We are seeking an experienced Fitter or may be two to join our operations team on a full-time basis. Fit and assemble fabricated metal parts and mechanical components to install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment to operational standards, in accordance with technical drawings and safety requirements as per Australian standards.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
As a Fitter, your duties include:
Study technical drawings, specifications and job instructions to determine suitable materials, methods, sequence of operations and machine settings.
Fit, assemble and align fabricated metal parts and subassemblies to construct or repair machines and mechanical equipment.
Check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments (micrometer, vernier caliper, gauges) etc.
Perform precision fitting, levelling and alignment of machines and engineering components.
Perform mechanical cutting, machining and general fabrication tasks using hand tools, power tools and fixed/moveable machinery.
Carry out shutdown, isolation and lock-out procedures on machines and equipment prior to maintenance or repair work.
Use load-shifting equipment (cranes, hoists, forklifts) safely to move materials, machinery and components.
Set up, adjust and operate machining tools and equipment for cutting, grinding, drilling, boring and shaping metal stock and castings.
Diagnose faults in mechanical plant, equipment and components, and identify worn or defective parts.
Repair, replace and overhaul worn or faulty mechanical components, bearings, drives and transmission assemblies.
Install, maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems and their components, including cutting, threading and bending pipes and lines.
Order, select and prepare materials required for fitting, machining and repair tasks.
Test and adjust mechanical parts and assemblies after repair to confirm correct operation and performance.
Interpret and apply relevant Australian standards, workplace procedures and manufacturer specifications.
Work safely with industrial chemicals, materials and equipment in compliance with WHS regulations as per Australian standards.
Maintain accurate work records, job sheets and maintenance logs.
Communicate and liaise with supervisors, engineers and other trades to coordinate work activities.
Provide on-the-job guidance and mentoring to apprentices or junior tradespersons.
Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices in the workplace.
Annual Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 base + Super (for a 38-hour work week).
Qualification & Licences
Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade – Fitter (General) preferred.
At least 5 years of proven work experience in the above job role.
Sound experience as Fitter in Steel fabrication environment.
Well experienced of WHS requirements, particularly in manufacturing and steel fabrication environment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
