Specialist Medical Oncologists to join the cancer service at
South West Healthcare (SWH), Warrnambool, with opportunities available on a
full-time, fractional or VMO basis.
Commencement is available from the
second half of 2026 or early 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Medical Oncologist who is looking to join a
supportive, collaborative and progressive regional cancer service, while enjoying the exceptional coastal lifestyle of Warrnambool and Victoria's Great South Coast.
You will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team comprising medical oncologists, committed nursing staff and allied health professionals with a broad range of clinical interests and expertise.
The service is focused on delivering
safe, evidence-based and patient-centred oncology care to the South West Victorian community.
The Role The successful Specialist Medical Oncologist will participate in the provision of high-quality:
- Oncology outpatient services
- Oncology inpatient services
- Multidisciplinary cancer care
- Clinical assessment and treatment planning
- Evidence-based systemic cancer therapies
- Regional cancer service development
There is also an opportunity to contribute to the continued development of oncology services across the region.
SWH is particularly interested in specialists who can contribute to the ongoing development of a
regional oncology model across the South West Local Health Service Network.
Teaching & Education SWH has strong links with
Deakin University and provides an excellent environment for specialists with an interest in medical education.
You will have opportunities to contribute to:
- Undergraduate medical student teaching
- Physician trainee education
- Registrar teaching
- Junior medical staff supervision
- Nursing education and training
Previous experience in teaching medical students, junior doctors and nursing staff will be highly regarded.
Research & Clinical Trials The position also provides an excellent opportunity to develop or continue
research and clinical trials interests.

- Support the expansion of regional oncology services
- Help establish and develop public outpatient oncology clinics

What You Bring To be considered for this position, you will have:
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)
- Specialist recognition as a Medical Oncologist
- Strong clinical skills and commitment to evidence-based oncology practice
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
- Commitment to patient-centred care
- An interest in teaching and medical education
A willingness to participate in registrar teaching and demonstrated experience teaching
junior medical staff, medical students and nursing staff will be highly regarded.
