Role Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
Ensure food is prepared, cooked and presented consistently during service.
Assist with planning and developing menus, daily specials and seasonal dishes.
Monitor the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation and presentation.
Estimate food requirements and assist with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies.
Monitor stock levels and ensure ingredients are properly stored, labelled and rotated.
Maintain appropriate portion control and minimise food wastage through effective stock management.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment.
Prepare and adapt dishes to accommodate customers' dietary requirements and special requests.
Work closely with kitchen, management and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Assist in training, supervising and providing guidance to junior kitchen staff where required.
Maintain kitchen equipment and work areas to appropriate cleanliness and operational standards.
Contribute ideas to improve menu quality, kitchen efficiency and overall food service operations.
Qualifications & Skills
Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery, or a related qualification.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef or Cook in a restaurant, bistro, pub, club or similar hospitality environment.
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a busy and fast-paced kitchen environment.
Strong communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
Ability to maintain consistency and attention to detail during busy service periods.
Passion for preparing fresh, high-quality food and providing a positive dining experience.
Reliable, organised and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
