Fellowed Psychiatrist to join Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service as
Deputy Director of Clinical Services.
Working alongside the Director of Clinical Services, you will play a key role in leading medical services across Central Queensland, supporting clinical teams, driving innovation and shaping the future delivery of mental health and Alcohol and Other Drugs services to a population of more than
250,000 people.
This is an opportunity for an experienced psychiatrist who combines strong clinical expertise with collaborative leadership and a genuine commitment to improving patient care and supporting medical teams.
The Opportunity As
Deputy Director of Clinical Services, you will work closely with the Director of Clinical Services to provide clinical leadership across a diverse and geographically dispersed mental health service.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Provide senior clinical leadership across Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs services
- Support and develop medical teams across the region
- Lead clinical quality, safety and continuous improvement initiatives
- Drive innovation and service development
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability and high-quality patient care
- Support clinical governance and risk management
- Contribute to education, research and professional development
- Support RANZCP training across the service
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and key internal and external stakeholders
- Provide leadership to medical officers and nurse practitioner teams
- Step into the Director of Clinical Services and Mental Health Act Administrator role during periods of absence
This is a senior role with the opportunity to influence service delivery and make a meaningful contribution to mental health care across Central Queensland.

The service has a catchment population of more than
250,000 people, with
Rockhampton serving as the regional hub.
The service provides a broad range of specialist mental health and Alcohol and Other Drugs services, including:
- Acute inpatient mental health
- Community mental health
- Alcohol and Other Drugs services
- Indigenous mental health services
- Child and Youth Mental Health
- Prison mental health services
- Forensic mental health
- Court Liaison services
- Specialist regional services
You will become part of a large, connected and multidisciplinary service committed to supporting patients, families and communities across the region.
About You To be considered for this senior leadership position, you will have:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP)
- Current Specialist Registration with AHPRA
- Demonstrated senior clinical experience in Psychiatry
- Experience managing a broad range of psychiatric presentations across hospital and/or community settings
- Strong understanding of contemporary, evidence-based psychiatric practice
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance, quality and patient safety
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities
- A commitment to professional development, education and continuous improvement
The successful candidate will be a collaborative and approachable leader who can build strong relationships, support their teams, identify opportunities for improvement and translate ideas into practical outcomes.
Remuneration
Total remuneration package of up to $584,972 per annum, comprising:
- Base salary of $266,839 – $282,912 p.a. (L25–L27)
- Salary range of $223,136 – $259,187 p.a. (L18–L24)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
