Same Day Flatbed is an owner-operated provider of LR flatbed trucks and top-quality operators to one of Perth’s leading courier companies.
Based in Kelmscott, we service the warehousing, mining and construction sectors as well as a large variety of general flatbed transport needs.
Same Day Flatbed takes pride in delivering freight across the Perth metropolitan area efficiently, safely and professionally. Our dedicated operators work closely with our dispatchers to provide a reliable, capable and customer-focused operator service.
Our “strap twice, drive once” approach to load restraint, experience transporting dangerous goods, and ability to efficiently navigate challenging on-site locations are what set our operators apart. Combined with friendly and professional customer service, we aim to provide the kind of service that has customers asking dispatchers for our drivers by name, time and time again.
The Role
Drive one of our manageable, small automatic vehicles — Fuso Canter 615 (6 pallet) Flatbed truck
Use a mobile app to receive ad-hoc metro courier jobs and messages from dispatchers
Complete all required Proof of Delivery (POD), including photos and receiver signatures
Safely restrain a variety of loads using ratchet straps, pallet angles and gates
Strictly adhere to legal safety standards at all times, including verifying Dangerous Goods codes and carrying limits when required
Inspect freight and load restraint before departing each location
Properly manage vehicle payload and weight distribution
Report any vehicle, freight or safety issues to management/dispatch
Communicate professionally with clients and site personnel
Drive with care and consideration for other road users
Follow all safety directions and signage at pickups and drop-offs
Use GPS to plan routes for multi-stop runs
Who We Are Looking For
Someone who can work autonomously without being micromanaged
Strong time management skills
Proficiency in route planning and GPS navigation
Previous experience in metro courier work — this doesn't have to be in trucks, but truck experience is desirable
Additional experience in warehousing, logistics, forklift operation, etc. desirable
Friendly and professional communication skills
Strong problem-solving ability
Physically fit, with occasional manual unloading required
Willingness to learn
What You'll Need
LR driver's licence
Police clearance
Satisfactory driving history
Dangerous Goods Driver's Licence — desirable but not essential
Load Restraint training — desirable but not essential
