We're Bubbletent Australia — off grid luxury stays in one of the most beautiful valleys in the country, about 3hrs NW of Sydney, between Lithgow and Mudgee. On your days off you can: • Explore wineries in Mudgee • Get to know Jordan at Capertee Pub • Hike (there are more trails than we've had staff) • Read in a hammock on top of an escarpment • Go 4WDing • Chase waterfalls / canyons in the Blue Mountains • Kayak (30 mins from us) • Wander through actual old gold mining towns We're looking for a builder / carpenter / skilled all rounder maintenance extraordinaire who's as happy sketching ideas and teaching others as they are picking up the nail gun when needed. Needs to have 'seen it all and can do it all' or knows how it's done at least. What you'll actually do: • Design and oversee small builds and creative projects • Prototype and experiment on site: from putting up sheds to spinning beds, outdoor baths and stargazing decks. (We'll outsource the big stuff) • Create produce shelving, display units and other dreamy café / retail fit out elements • Light hands on building and carpentry when needed • Work with and guide contractors and team members to get projects finished well and safely • Problem solve site specific challenges (off grid, steep terrain, wind, weather) in clever, guest friendly ways Who we're looking for: • Qualified builder or experienced carpenter who's comfortable planning, sketching and explaining as much as doing • You enjoy teaching people and have the patience to walk them through "why", not just "how" • You've got a creative streak — you care about how things feel as well as how they function • You're practical, reliable, good with follow through and calm when things change last minute • You solve problems instead of just announcing them • You're comfortable on rural sites (4WD / AWD) or open to learning on ours • It's a remote job — you know to have a healthy relationship with alcohol and are of good mental fortitude…very important.
