unique 12-month opportunity for one exceptional new Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 2027.
Recognising the limited opportunities available for Senior Registrars transitioning into independent specialist practice, this position has been specifically designed to provide a new Fellow with the opportunity to
work independently as a Specialist while remaining supported within an experienced team environment.
Large Private Practice Retainer Available A significant feature of this opportunity is the potential to establish a
substantial private practice, supported by the co-located
Mater Mothers' Private and Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.
For the right candidate, there is potential to negotiate a
large private practice retainer/package, providing an attractive financial platform while developing a long-term private patient base.

The Opportunity This role provides a new Fellow with the opportunity to transition into
independent Specialist practice within a supportive tertiary hospital environment.
The successful applicant will ideally be seeking to develop a long-term career in
General Obstetrics & Gynaecology, whether within the public system, private practice or a combination of both.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Provide tertiary-level antenatal and intrapartum care
- Manage complex obstetric presentations
- Participate in operating lists within Brisbane's busy general gynaecology service
- Develop your private practice through Mater's established private practice model
- Work collaboratively with experienced Obstetricians & Gynaecologists
- Work alongside medical, midwifery and allied health professionals
- Participate in education and supervision of junior doctors
- Contribute to clinical audit, research and quality improvement
- Participate in risk management and administrative activities
Mater Flying O&G Service There is also an opportunity to participate in the
Mater Flying O&G Service, undertaking week-long gynaecology-focused rotations to rural and regional Queensland.
This provides valuable exposure to regional women's health while offering the opportunity to contribute to the provision of specialist services outside metropolitan Brisbane.
