About the Role
As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will provide high-quality anaesthetic and perioperative care to patients at Grampians Health Ballarat, with occasional outreach services to Stawell and Horsham. The position includes participation in the on-call roster and engagement in departmental teaching, training, and governance activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver specialist anaesthetic services at Ballarat, with intermittent outreach to Stawell and Horsham
* Provide care across the full spectrum of **paediatric, adult, and obstetric** patients
* Manage a diverse surgical workload; experience in **thoracic and vascular anaesthesia** is highly regarded
* Supervise and support **Anaesthetic Registrars, HMOs, and Nursing staff**
* Participate in departmental clinical research and quality improvement initiatives
* Contribute to ongoing review and development of clinical practice and service delivery
Skills & Experience
* Fellowship of **ANZCA** (or overseas equivalent) with **specialist registration** or eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA
* Medical degree registrable with AHPRA
* Experience providing anaesthetic services within a regional or mixed metropolitan/regional setting
* Broad clinical skills across general, paediatric, and obstetric anaesthesia; thoracic and vascular experience preferred
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong professional relationships across multidisciplinary teams
