Hays is partnering with a Queensland Government organisation responsible for delivering critical infrastructure projects that support communities and economic growth across Far North Queensland. Due to ongoing programme demands, an opportunity has become available for a Project Controls Support Officer to join a collaborative and high-performing team based in Cairns CBD.
Your new role
As the Project Controls Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the coordination, reporting, financial monitoring, and governance activities across a significant infrastructure programme. Working closely with Project Managers and delivery teams, you will help ensure project information remains accurate, reporting obligations are met, and project risks, actions, and milestones are effectively tracked.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining project control data and registers, supporting programme reporting and forecasting activities, monitoring schedules and project performance, processing accounts payable and contract payment certificates, and assisting with governance and document control requirements. You will be instrumental in providing reliable programme information to support informed decision-making and successful project delivery.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Previous experience in project control, project support, project administration, or programme coordination.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex project information and reporting requirements.
Experience supporting financial monitoring, forecasting, scheduling, governance, or reporting activities.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and reporting tools.
The ability to identify and escalate risks, monitor project actions, and coordinate competing priorities.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
Experience within infrastructure, construction, engineering, or government environments will be highly regarded.

Attractive hourly rate of $51.13 per hour plus superannuation
Contract through to August 2027 – Potential 12-month extension
