Hays Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Supervisor to join a large and well-established government organisation delivering building construction, maintenance and upgrade projects throughout the Cairns region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with strong leadership capabilities and a background in building maintenance, project delivery, or trade-based supervision to take on a pivotal role overseeing projects, contractors and internal work teams.
Your new role
As Senior Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the delivery of construction, maintenance and upgrade projects while ensuring safety, quality, budget and time objectives are achieved.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising the delivery of building construction, maintenance and refurbishment works
- Managing contractors, subcontractors and internal field teams across multiple projects
- Monitoring project performance, expenditure, service delivery and quality outcomes
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards and organisational policies
- Supporting the delivery of facilities maintenance contracts and associated works
- Managing project resources including plant, equipment, depots and vehicles
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Contributing to business development opportunities through regular client engagement
- Driving a positive safety culture and ensuring workplace health and safety compliance
- Leading and developing staff performance, capability and conduct
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong experience supervising building construction and maintenance projects
- Sound knowledge of construction legislation, regulations, contract administration and industry best practice
- Experience managing contractors, trades and project stakeholders
- Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills
- Proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite
- Current White Card (Construction Industry General Safety Induction Card)
Highly desirable:
- Trade qualification within the construction industry
- Experience within government, social housing, education or commercial asset maintenance environments
