The Opportunity An exciting opportunity is available for a
Staff Specialist Anaesthetist to join the experienced medical team at
South East Regional Hospital (SERH) in Bega, on the NSW South Coast.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Anaesthetist seeking a rewarding specialist career within a supportive regional health service, combined with an outstanding coastal lifestyle.
International Medical Graduates with an overseas anaesthesia qualification who are eligible for the ANZCA Expedited Specialist Pathway or ANZCA Specialist Pathway are encouraged to apply. You will provide high-quality, evidence-based anaesthetic services across a broad range of surgical and procedural specialties while contributing to education, clinical governance and service improvement.
About the Role Working as part of the multidisciplinary medical team, you will provide contemporary anaesthetic care and contribute to safe, high-quality patient outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing best-practice, evidence-based clinical anaesthetic services
- Supporting quality patient outcomes across the hospital
- Providing supervision and education to junior medical staff and relevant healthcare professionals
- Supporting safe and effective clinical practice within the department
- Utilising clinical information systems to support informed decision-making and care planning
- Working collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health teams
- Supporting continuity and coordination of patient care
- Participating in risk management and quality improvement programs
- Contributing to clinical governance and service development
- Complying with relevant NSW Ministry of Health policies, legislation and SNSWLHD procedures
About You We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Anaesthetist who is committed to providing high-quality specialist care within a regional hospital environment.
You will have:
- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent overseas specialist qualification
- Overseas-trained specialists eligible for the ANZCA Expedited Specialist Pathway or ANZCA Specialist Pathway are encouraged to apply
- Registration or eligibility for registration with AHPRA
- Strong clinical and communication skills
- A commitment to evidence-based practice and patient safety
- An interest in education, supervision and professional development
- A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary healthcare
